Moving or Relocating with your Canine CompanionWhen relocating plan a head. Tell the real estate or rental professional about your dogs' size and its needs. Investigate all animal-related costs for example pet maintenance fees and deposits. Be educated about local and state regulations. Should your dog be licensed? Plan out your trip and verify pet friendly hotels. Schedule a checkup with your veterinarian seven days before traveling. He can provide the following: Health Certificate, Medical Records, medications and a veterinarian referral.
During the packing and unpacking process, crate your canine to protect him from towering boxes, ingesting packing peanuts or items that would normally be out of his reach. Stop and make special time for one-on-one. This could be extra cuddles or a walk around the new neighborhood. Your dog should wear a comfortable collar with identification at all times including a cellular number. Prepackage food and carry bottled water to avoid stomach upset. Carry a recent photograph with your dogs vital statistics should you get separated.
Upon arrival locate the veterinarian and boarding facility. If possible let your dog inspect the new home before you move in. Unpack doggies' belongings first. This will give your dog a familiar place to retreat during the commotion of unpacking. Most important, be patient and remember, your dog needs time to adjust like the rest of his family.
