- Make 3 copies of your Rabies Certification. One for the glove box in your car. Second copy should be placed into a zip lock bag and taped to the outside of the crate. The third copy is an extra just incase you need to board your dog. Carry it on your person.
- Check information on dogs tags. Add a second I. D. tag titled Relocation information. This tag should have your cell number and a local number where the dog is staying.
- Be sure you have enough medication on hand to last a month. This should include heartworm protection and flea and tick preventative.
- You will need your crate and a long lead 15 feet to 20 feet. Cover the bottom of the crate with shredded paper. This is easy to clean and also cooler for your pet.
- If transporting your animal in a crate in the bed of a truck or trailer, be sure to place ice in the water bowl and attach it to the crate so it won't get knocked over. Remember, in slow moving traffic the temperature will raise very quickly in the bed of the truck or trailer.
